Our Christmas Fair was a huge success thanks to the generosity of all our families, the Friends of Bedelsford School, and the local community.
Pupils had the opportunity to do their Christmas shopping at the fair choosing gifts for family members. There was a huge array of presents to chose from with tables groaning under the weight of potential gifts that had all been donated. Some pupils were choosing gifts for grandparents, or their siblings and we hope some Mums and Dads may have nice surprises under the Christmas tree too.
Staff and Sixth Form students manned the stalls and were on hand to help younger students with their shopping. Phoenix class also took the opportunity to further their Enterprise endeavours by selling Christmas gifts and cards they had made.
Parent volunteers from the Friends, helped by some Sixth Form elves also provided a wrapping service and made sure the right gift tag was attached to each parcel. The children were clearly delighted with their purchases, and we hope they will remain a secret until the big day!
For many of our pupils a trip to the shops to do their Christmas shopping is a major endeavour and so the Fair is a lovely opportunity for them to have a little independence and buy gifts for their families. It also enables our pupils to practice some key skills such as choosing and paying for items as if they are in a real shop. The older students gain valuable Enterprise skills by helping make items to sell, to run the stalls, and provide customer service by helping the younger pupils to choose and wrap their gifts.
The event was a huge success, and we are very grateful to everyone who helped with the organisation and being so generous with their donations.
