Pupils get active at MOVE Fest 2025!
We celebrated the culmination of MOVE charity’s annual ‘MOVE Day 2025’ event on Wednesday 18 June, with an award assembly that recognised and celebrated the achievements of their pupils during the school year.
A large proportion of pupils at Bedelsford are wheelchair users and the school is recognised by the charity as a ‘MOVE Centre of Excellence’ having demonstrated an understanding of the importance of functional movement (e.g., sitting, standing, walking and transferring) and for promoting the learning of vital movement skills across the school day.
Pupils who had made exceptional progress towards their functional goals in their chosen activities were cheered on by staff and fellow pupils as they were presented with certificates to mark their achievements. Many had also engaged in activities, such as step-counting, to raise funds for a new and much-needed Innowalk machine. Their efforts paid off, and with gratitude and applause to generous donors, enough funds were raised to purchase a new machine, unveiled to pupils at the end of the assembly.
The celebrations continued throughout the day, with a number of pupils enjoying hand- and footprint art, the swings and basketball in the outdoor playground while others took part in movement stories, Occupational Therapy workshops and made use of indoor games equipment to encourage independent movement.
