Post-16 students were delighted to perform their very own interpretation of Shakespeare’s play, The Tempest and bring to the close this year’s Shakespeare for Schools Festival. Twenty students took to the stage at The Rose Theatre in Kingston on Wednesday 8th May.

Our students used their communication skills and created a sensory performance to interpret the play and share what they had learnt with the audience.

One of the students involved, Tanzeela, said ‘I loved spraying the water and waving the material around for the storm.”

Assistant Principal, Jessica Webb, said “It is a wonderful opportunity to share our learning with the community. We think it is really important to make Shakespeare accessible to our learners, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to perform on a professional stage.”

Our students thoroughly enjoyed performing on a professional stage in front of a packed house which included family and friends. Two students and Jessica Webb were interviewed on BBC Radio Surrey and told listeners how much they had enjoyed performing The Tempest on stage.
