Trash to Treasure Fashion Show

Students in Everest Class took to the catwalk to showcase the amazing clothes they had designed using recycled material. They had worked hard on their outfits and were thrilled to show them to family and school friends who gathered around the red carpet.

Students really engaged with the project learning about both fashion and recycling and had lots of fun in the process. Each student chose their materials and personalised their outfits to reflect their interests. Materials ranging from yogurts pots to shredded paper that would normally end up in the recycling were proudly on show and of course there was some glow in the dark strings to add that extra bit of sparkle.

The students also organised fundraising activities including a raffle that raised over £700 for the Katie Piper Foundation, a charity that supports the rehabilitation of burns victims. Katie Piper even sent a special message to the class which was shown on the big screen thanking them for raising so much money for the charity.

When asked how they felt when taking to the catwalk, Lily summed it up for everyone when she said ‘AMAZING’.

A huge thank you to L’Oréal for their generous donations of goodie bags and raffle prizes. Also thanks to The River Group for their fantastic support and help bringing everything together, and to the Katie Piper Foundation for being with us every step of our fundraising journey. Finally massive thanks to Imnah, who used his experience as a fashion designed to help the students design their outfits.

Well done to all our budding models and their families and friends who supported them.
